Agricultural Investment Success

image

Since 2019, reap has been plotting the course for successful turnaround of a flagship Tanzanian agribusiness investment. During the period 2008-2018 Mngeta Farm was developed by private investors into a modern, commercial cropping and grains processing business in the Kilombero Valley, Tanzania. Declining into significant financial difficulties through 2017-19, then subsequently placed in Receivership by the secured creditors in mid-2020, this farming business offered a rare acquisition opportunity with major positive social impact implications. A fundamental understanding of the key underlying technical constraints that had originally contributed to the business failure, and the essential financial resources to rectify these, would be critical to the likelihood for turnaround success.
